CTFA Nomenclature:Polyvinypyrrolidone(Abbreviated to PVP)
Physical properties:exists as white or milky white powder, and colorless or slight yellow

transparent liquid. It can dissolve in water, alcohol, isopropanlol or chloroform, not in

acetone or diethyl ether, polymers having molecular weight under 30000 can excreted by

the human kidney.

Application
Pharmaceutical: Povidone K30 is a new and excellent pharmaceutical excipient. It is

mainly used as binder for tablet and pellet, dissolving assistant for injection, flow

assistant for capsule, dispersant for liquid medicine and pigment, stabilizer for enzyme

and heat sensitive drug, coprecipitant for poorly soluble drug, lubricator and

antitoxical assistant for eye drug, PVP has been used as excipients more than one hundred

drugs.
